15 best blogs to follow for Inbound Marketing tools and techniques

When researching to write your own articles - or just educating yourself on trends and best practices in today's marketing world - it's essential to read a variety of marketing blogs to gather different perspectives and apply them to your campaigns.

Search engine optimisation (SEO) standards are continually changing. Like social media, email marketing, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), search engines are improving the way in which they deliver results to users every day.

To do this, they're focusing on things like localisation, page authority, click-through rate, and even searches that come from voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

As a marketer, it is critical to keep up with all of this news. Here's our reading list of the best SEO blogs on the internet today to help you become a better marketer.

The following lists are some of our favourite content pieces we regularly read for education, tips, tricks, and more.

1. Buffer

Buffers are experts in social media publishing. Their blog features big, bold images that are easy to share with your social networks. They keep their content simple and witty while taking deep dives into data when appropriate and analyse that data very well.

Blog articles also examine large companies or people using social and break down what they are doing well (and sometimes where they could improve). This way, anyone can take the nuggets of information and apply it to their strategy (smaller case studies, for example).

2. CoSchedule

CoSchedule has two different blogs: the regular blog that discusses blogging best practices, content marketing and even highlights popular companies as case studies to follow as examples.

Their product blog, on the other hand, showcases essential updates and cool things you can do with their product. What's more, their blog titles often use brackets around "new features" to draw more attention to the content so readers understand a particular article is announcing something brand new that they can put to good use.

3. SEMrush

These intelligence experts offer a tool that lets digital marketers research competitive data. But don't the name fool you. In addition to SEM, they're experts in SEO, PPC, and Content Marketing.

When it comes to their blog, they publish quite frequently - sometimes more than one article per day. Articles often lean towards the how-to and "what is" topics to educate readers. Many of the articles are on top of the funnel to educate their audience so readers can implement the tips and tricks and gain competitive advantages.

4. ConversionXL

ConversionXL is the go-to place for actionable advice on testing and experimentation. We've referenced Peep Laja and ConversionXL many times in previous articles ourselves. Peep and his team of writers always produce quality content. Posts by residents write Alexa Birkett, and Shanelle Mullin feature advice that both newbie and veteran markets can follow for useful results.

They're apparently an authoritative source on conversion optimisation in today's marketing world.

5. Neil Patel

When Hubspot asks you to guest post on a regular basis, you know you're doing something right - and that's exactly what's happened. Neil Patel regularly guest posts for Hubspot's blog, so you know his own blog is a must-read as well.

Neil actually has three different blogs he contributes to his website blog (website traffic building), Quick Sprout (Content Marketing), and Crazy Egg (conversion rate optimisation). Take your pick, whichever content type is more relevant to you (or all three!).

Neil's posts often have "numbered" titles, he provides actionable tips, and the articles are usually pretty, so you'll need to set aside about 15-20mins at really focus on the content (but it's likely the best 15-20 mins you'll spend reading each day).

6. The Moz Blog

Moz has become the glad standard for SEO solutions and how-to articles. The Moz Blog's team of contributors offers an article per day to help expand your knowledge of search marketing.
